Chicken Fried Steak made with RITZ Crackers

INGREDIENTS

1 steak

  • 1/4 tsp. onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/8 tsp. dried oregano leaves
  • 1/8 tsp. kosher salt
  • 1/8 tsp. ground black pepper
  • 3 oz. tenderized boneless beef round steak, (cube steak), 1/4 inch thick
  • 3 oz. whole milk
  • 3/4 oz. finely ground RITZ Crackers
  • 1/2 oz. cornstarch
  • 1/2 oz. rice flour
  • 1/4 tsp. baking powder
  • 4 oz. vegetable oil

DIRECTIONS

Combine onion powder, garlic powder, oregano, salt and pepper in a small bowl. Sprinkle 3/4 tsp. of the seasoning mixture evenly onto each side of steak. Place milk in another bowl. Combine cracker crumbs, cornstarch, rice flour and baking powder in a third bowl.

Dredge seasoned steak in cracker mixture, then in milk and coat again in cracker mixture.

Meanwhile, heat oil in deep skillet to 350 F, making sure it will reach about 3/4ths of the way up the side of the steak.

Fry steak 1-1/2 to 2 min. per side; drain well.

Serving Suggestion

  • Serve steak with country gravy, vegetables and potatoes.

Make Ahead

  • Recipe can be made ahead of time. Prepare as directed up to 15 min. before serving. Keep warm on a rack on a sheet pan in 250 F oven.
